About Us

Where are you based?

I work from my studio in Alexandria, Sydney Australia.

Absolutely, I am very open to discussion with select retailers I feel fit our brand aesthetic, to create exclusive pieces and collaborate.

Do you have any help?

Everything is designed, pattern drafted and where possible sewn by me in my Sydney based studio. Due to the nature and industrial machinery involved in the production of knitwear I am unable to create these pieces myself and our knitwear is produced offshore, but I remain closely involved in every aspect of production. I love to collaborate, and work closely with graphic artist Adrianna Cicchitelli (Wheels & Dollbaby, Bulla, Nickelodeon) who designed all the original artwork for the Mademoiselle X logo and monogram. Most recently, we also collaborated with Japanese artist, Gummy in order to depict the Mansfield-clad, "vintage sleaze" style vixens – now featured on our luxury tissue paper.

What is your brand ethos?

I do not adhere to any fashion season calendar and simply make coquettish pieces with Marie Antoinette-esque detailing that I love and want to wear. My designs represent confidence, frivolity, individuality and femininity. All materials are sensibly sourced and styles produced in extremely limited quantities. I try to keep functionality, the environment and people’s budgets in mind. I prefer to use vintage fabrics and notions for the trimmings as much as possible, which makes each piece all the more exclusive.

What is your background?

I graduated in 2010 with a BDES in Fashion from Whitehouse Institute of Design, I went on to complete a MEd in Secondary Education in 2012 and various other lingerie sewing and print design courses at Longina Phillips Studio and at Ultimo TAFE. Since then I have travelled extensively, freelanced in magazines and worked in both fashion and bridal as a couture embellisher and professional seamstress.

My love for showgirl glamour and rock ‘n’ roll was cemented during my time working at iconic Australian label, Wheels & Dollbaby Est 1987. With a finger in every pie, I managed online operations and social media, in addition to creating visual merchandising displays at the Flagship Store on Crown St. When I wasn’t at a Divinyls gig or backstage at Blondie, I often fit modelled for new pieces, styled Perth Fashion Festival runway shows, assisted with fittings, the development of prints and to select that latest Dita Von Teese Cardigan colourway.

Since launching Mademoiselle X in 2018, I have worked continuously in order to make romantic pieces I absolutely love and that tell our story. I have been so thankful for your continued support of our small independent Australian business. It has been the most wonderful and rewarding thing to see women of all shapes and sizes not only wearing, but cherishing our pieces as keepsakes.
